Metaplanet arrived at the purchase of 2,205 BTC worth 239M, and their total Bitcoin inventory now stands at 15,555 which places them at number five in the world.

The Japanese investment company Metaplanet keeps expanding its treasury by purchasing 2,205 Bitcoin (BTC) in a recent purchase and 2,189 Bitcoin (BTC) in a previous one, investing around 238.7 million in the new sale. The action taken makes it one of the corporate leaders in the ownership of the most prominent cryptocurrency in the world.

15,555 BTC Now Held by Metaplanet

Announced Monday, Metaplanet’s acquisition brings its total Bitcoin holdings to 15,555 BTC, placing it fifth globally among public companies, according to data from Bitcointreasuries.net.

CEO Simon Gerovich confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the firm acquired the latest batch of 2,205 BTC at an average price of $108,237 per coin.

“We’re continuing our mission to build a sustainable, scalable business on a Bitcoin standard,” Gerovich posted last Wednesday.

The company has ambitious plans ahead — earlier this month, it set a revised long-term goal of holding over 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027.

Rapid Revenue Growth on Bitcoin Strategy

Metaplanet’s Bitcoin-centric model appears to be paying off. In its last quarterly reports, the firm had a breakthrough increase of 42.4 percent in Q2 2025 revenues of 1.1 billion yen ($7.6 million) compared to the same period in 2024.

This flood underscores the role of Bitcoin usage on the performance of corporations in a dynamic investment environment in Japan.

This cannot be stopped, and it is a solid validation of our strategy which is based on the efficiency of operations enabled by the use of Bitcoin, said Gerovich.

Market Reaction and Stock Performance

Despite the announcement, Metaplanet’s stock dropped 1.8% as of 2:10 p.m. local time in Japan on Monday, per Yahoo Finance data. Still, the stock has seen impressive momentum, gaining 13.9% over the past month and up a massive 339% year-to-date.

Meanwhile, MicroStrategy, led by Michael Saylor, continues to dominate the corporate BTC leaderboard with 597,325 BTC under management.
