Sui Blockchain Introduces Radio Waves for Cryptocurrency Transactions Without Internet Connection

The Sui blockchain is addressing the question of interrupted internet connection by working on “internet-less transactions” through mobile networks and radio waves. This innovative approach is expected to help in enabling the use of cryptos in even areas with no or very little access to the internet.

A major problem has been to use crypto transactions with no internet connection, which is difficult, particularly in contexts with recurrent power blackouts. Sui blockchain is responding to this problem with the solution of making “internet-less transactions” facilitated through mobile networks, and radio waves.

During the interview with Cointelegraph’s Andrew Fenton, Adeniyi Abiodun, the co-founder of Mysten Labs that developed Sui described their new solution. Sui’s technology, according to Abiodun, has the capability of reporting cryptocurrency transactions across diverse channels of communication such as the ‘radio waves of telecommunications without wire’ and underwater ‘waves’.

“It is equally possible to enable you relay transactions through different forms of communication other than the internet,” contributed Abiodun. This innovation is intended to address issues to do with disaster recovery, outages as well as low connectivity.

Implementation of Sui and the prospects that can be anticipated.

Sui has already applied this method, and the goal is now to apply it to IoT devices and to DePIN projects . DePINs are still a limited category in Web3 that is primarily focused on decentralizing the management of infrastructure. To Abiodun dekins is a logical continuation of the goals, through which people themselves contribute to funding of public infrastructure and receive some remuneration.

It goes beyond the payment application and shows another possible use of coupons, reward and data services. For the cases where there is no cell signal or data connection, Sui’s plan is to involve mesh networks, satellites, and radio channels.

Expanding Access

Some of the projects implemented by DePIN like helium mobile and wifi dabba are already diminishing the digital divides. Thus, Sui’s approach is a good fit and extends the efforts of such strategies by focusing on the financial inclusion of those who do not have an internet connection.

Abiodun emphasized that increasing access to financial services is a core mission.
“We wanted more users to access financial services for cheap,” he said. Sui is collaborating with Chip Wireless, a Canadian mobile service provider, to pilot these ideas and is considering expansion into markets like Africa.
