The girlfriend of cryptocurrency "Godfather's" ex-girlfriend pleads guilty to a $2.6 million tax charge.

The girlfriend of convicted cryptocurrency scammer Adam Iza, aka "The Godfather," Iris Ramaya Au, has agreed to plead guilty to a federal criminal tax charge. In a statement on March 5, the US Justice Department alleged that Au had pleaded guilty to one count of filing a false tax return "for not reporting over $2.6 million in ill-gotten gains she received through her then-boyfriend's criminal scheme." Iza's former boyfriend pleaded guilty in January to various offenses he carried out between 2020 and 2024, including acquiring Facebook and Meta advertising accounts and obtaining credit by fraud and selling access to them. With these frauds, Iza managed to acquire millions of dollars in unreported income, the Justice Department reported. It added that Au created bank accounts and shell companies on Iza's instructions. She then purchased or rented costly property, cars, jewelry, and apparel with the illicit funds and paid nearly $1 million to bribe Los Angeles deputies. The illegal gains were also used by Au and Iza to buy approximately $16 million in bitcoin and to cover "recreational activity," which was estimated at nearly $10 million. Iza, who also founded the cryptocurrency trading site Zort, pleaded guilty to tax evasion, wire fraud, and conspiracy against rights. Moreover, the Justice Department added that he confessed to bribing deputies at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for private security services and asked them to obtain "search warrants and confidential law enforcement information on individuals with whom Iza had money and personal disputes."

Au conceded in her plea that between 2020 and 2023 she transferred more than $2.6 million from these various funds into her personal accounts.

Iza is set to be sentenced on June 16 and may spend as long as 35 years in federal prison, while she may spend up to three years.
