Tattoo – Gavin Wood: Proof-of-Ink: The Tattoo Enhancing Your Web3 Privacy

Building on a strong track record, Parity Technologies is all set to reform Web3 individuality with the fixity of Proof-of-Ink solution which will solve a major hurdle to Web3 mass adoption. With this innovative approach, a user can authenticate his/her digital identity by referring to his/her tattoo, which symbolizes his/her rights of a digital citizenship.

Proof-of-Ink is planned to be released in the 4th quarter of the year 2024 and this has been revealed by Gavin Wood, the co-founder of Ethereum, Polkadot, and Kusama while addressing the attendees at the Web3 Conference in Berlin.

Wood detailed:

“It is our target to go on and implement the baseline palette and release the application in this current year, and the other mechanisms in the next year. ”

Wood did not give any more information about two other digital identity solutions in the pipeline with him hinting at one of them that it comprises two more advanced solutions.

Proof-of-Ink: Key Details

Proof-of-Ink is going to combine algorithmically created tattoos that have to be placed in a specific part of the body. This design is supposed to bring privacy because each tattoo is different, and every tattoo is on the blockchain system.

Wood explained:

“The position of the tattoo is predetermined for all the individuals including the common body area for tattoos for everybody This ensures uniqueness while ensuring privacy by using a design signed on-chain by a trustless third party.

The design of each tattoo will be created out of random numbers generated on the blockchain, thereby making each design unique. Purchase of lite products involving a small amount of Polkadot (DOT) tokens or potential vouchers may be required by users of the app before its public launch in the Web3 community.

Its purpose is to have Sybil resistance against spam requests.

Customers will also have to submit a video that shows the last three minutes of the tattooing – this will be evidence of Web3 identity.

Privacy in Web3: A Critical Need

Digital individuality solutions like Proof-of-Ink are essential for mass Web3 adoption, provided they offer genuine financial privacy. Wood emphasized:

“Our goal is to ensure that transactions are not tied to a signature but rather to a proof that maintains anonymity.”

Wood noted that Edward Snowden first highlighted the critical importance of financial privacy to avoid censorship, citing past instances such as Visa and Mastercard’s suspension of payments to WikiLeaks in 2010.
